Company Summary

Blaze Medical Devices provides solutions to improve assessment of red blood cell (RBC) mechanical fragility (MF) – which has immediate applications in various areas of R&D and clinical research, as well as follow on applications in medical practice. In response to widespread demand for better ways to assess RBC membrane mechanics, Blaze has begun offering its testing on a service basis, as it continues developing systems for sale.

    Michael Tarasev

    For over 10 years Michael worked as a Research Associate at the University of Michigan Medical. His doctoral thesis dealt with the subject of UV-VIS irradiation-induced effects in human Red Blood Cells. He has 20+ years’ experience in life sciences, including R&D for biomedical devices as well as experience in early-stage business development and financing. He received his MBA from Ross School of Business, University of Michigan in 2008.

    Kenneth Alfano

    Kenneth is currently a Lecturer in Engineering at the University of Michigan, prior to which he worked there as a staff Research Engineer. His experience includes biomedical device design and development, with a focus on microfluidic biochemical analysis systems. He is also a licensed attorney, with expertise in IP and regulatory law. He oversees both product development and patent strategy for Blaze.
