The importance of group economics cannot be understated. The time is long overdue for us to stand together and support the causes that not only speak to us, but that also provide for us positively.

B.L.A.C.K. Body Care is a chance for people of the African Diaspora to support businesses of the same. We are looking to start by opening a store in a central location to the inner Boston neighborhoods where we can finally eliminate the “accessibility” issues that stop too many of us from “buying black”.

This initial store will focus on body care products such as, lotions, soaps, shampoos, conditioners, butters and oils. We believe this is a perfect starting point because 60% of what is placed on your skin gets absorbed into the body. This means that all the chemicals found in your petroleum jelly products, Jergens, and Suave are being used by your body in some way. When you think about it like that, what goes on your body is just as important as what goes into it.

B.L.A.C.K. Body Care is a stepping stone for services we want to start in the community. There are plenty of entrepreneurs that have invested their time and resources to crafting products with the best, natural, and healthy ingredients, and we want you to have access to those products. “Currently, a dollar circulates in Asian communities for a month, in Jewish communities approximately 20 days and white communities 17 days. How long does a dollar circulate in the black community? 6 hours!!!”*

With B.L.A.C.K. we can lengthen the amount of time our money stays in our communities and, in turn, grow our communities and help the people in them.

We fully understand that times are tough and money is tight, however we also understand that this is a service that will be beneficial to everyone! Whether you give $1 or $100, every single dollar counts and helps. The goal is not concrete, we would like the community to constantly have the means to support the causes they believe in. We have set this goal in order to hopefully cover the cost of leasing and running the space i.e. utilities, inventory, set-up costs. These are some of the main reasons start ups lose steam and go out of business, and we do not, under any circumstances, want that to happen.

Those who donate, and provide their contact information will also be invited to participate in our soft opening where they can enter raffles, see the store, and sample products. In addition we want this to be a space where we can come together and dialogue about the services we need most in our communities. If you think there is a brand we should contact or a product we absolutely have to have, by all means please let us know. We want to craft a store that serves the needs of the community in which it plans to be situated.
