Company Summary
Big Fin Scientific's mission is to supply rugged, inexpensive and user-friendly research equipment to Marine Scientists and Researchers, enabling Humans to gather data on the health of sea animals and marine ecosystems rapidly and inexpensively. In this way, we aspire to enable smarter decisions regarding our impact and use of our environment. Our customers are government agencies, municipalities, fisheries and research institutions.

Chris CarrollManaging Director
Chris received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at UC Davis. After 4 years in Aerospace leading engineering teams, he created a Sporting-Goods Company (Bombyx Snowboarding), then developed a prototyping lab at Xerox PARC, followed by leading the Mechanical Engineering team at Pine Photonics (now Opnext). He then moved to Austin to start Capture Product Design, an Engineering Consultancy Firm, (2006) and Big Fin Scientific (2011).

Gus CarrollElectronics Expert
Gus (Chris' Dad), is a well-established analog and mixed-signal electronics engineer. He started at RCA in the '60s with cutting-edge display technology development and continues to innovate with the latest technology today. He holds a B.S. in Physics from the Rose-Polytechnic Institute and has worked on F-14 Fighter Displays, Military Displays with Ford Aerospace and high-speed industrial cameras, to name a few examples.

Donny GoffSoftware Guru
Donny developed all software for the 10MF1 prototype and Beta units. He's an expert in coding for microcontrollers such as what we use for Big Fin products.
