Dr. Alex SofficiClinical Advisory Board, FounderDr. Soffici is the Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine for the Cottage Health System and a teaching faculty at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine with over 20 years experience. Dr. Soffici graduated from the University of Utah, received his MD from University of Illinois Medical School, fulfilled his residency in Ob/Gyn from Harbor-UCLA, and completed his Perinatal Fellowship from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Prof. Sumita PennathurScientific Advisory Board, FounderDr. Pennathur is an associate professor in Mechanical Engineering at UCSB. She received her BS and MS from MIT, and PhD from Stanford. She performed postdoctoral studies at both Sandia National Laboratories and University of Twente. Her publications and awards reflect her contributions to the fields of nanofluidics and interfacial science. Notably she received the PECASE (presidential early career award in science and engineering) award in 2010.

Tony ChobotCOO, FounderTony brings over 15 years of engineering project management expertise to the Asta team. Tony was previously head of the mechanical group in advanced technology at Clipper Windpower, and currently holds a position as a senior product engineer at Invenios where he develops microfluidic technologies for the clients he serves. He holds an MS in Mechanical Engineering from MIT, and an MBA from Kellogg Northwestern.

CTO, FounderAlex studied and practiced in Professor Pennathur's UCSB research lab for 4+ years where he developed microfluidic tools for biological detection applications. He took technologies he co-developed through the UCSB New Venture Competition, winning Best Business Plan in 2010 and 1st Place in 2013. Alex is a Harold Frank Scholar and a Holbrook Fellow. He holds MS and BS degrees from UCSB in Mechanical Engineering.
