Asta manufactures an advanced protein product (PPP), oil, and other products from low-cost and often undesirable seafood processing residuals, by-catch and "trash" fish; turning them into high-value nutrients with superior properties.     Dr. Babbitt served for 21 years as the Lab Dir, Supervisory Research Chemist, NMFS Resource Enhancement & Utilization Technologies Lab, Kodiak, AK. He authored/co-authored 75 manuscripts published in peer review scientific journals dealing with the chemical, biocheml, & microbiological changes in marine foods during handling, proc, & dist. He received the NOAA Tech Transfer Award in recognition for his research regarding the surimi process.
