She served 16 years in the U.S. Foreign Service, handling economic affairs. Education: Mount Holyoke College; M.A. and Ph.D.- New York University; J.D. - New York Law School.

Dr. Burzell, Ph.D. is a Marine and Medical Microbiologist with expertise in pathogenic and marine biofilms, fouling, water quality, microbial taxonomy and genetics (B.A., Mount Holyoke College; Ph.D. St. George's University School of Medicine). Winner of TechAmerica's Researcher of the Year and NASA iNET, she manages Aequor's lab at JLabs-San Diego, and pilot projects showing the superior performance of the chemicals that she discovered.
