Started in May 2015 with the winning entry for Autodesk Smart Home Design Challenge--Air Butler, Aeolian Inc aims to reduce the severe harm air pollution does to China's huge population by devising the smart indoor air-purifying system--Air Butler--to provide knowledge of and control over indoor air condition for people who are constantly exposed to and concerned with polluted air. Air Butler makes sure the indoor air condition has reached its optimal state in the most efficient way by utilizing the Internet of Things. Air Butler consists of –1) sets of sensors attached to microcontrollers that are camouflaged as cute decorations (“Aeolian bells”) to hang in different rooms; 2)a mobile app that receives and analyzes air pollutant concentration data sent from the “Aeolian bells”, allowing customers to observe real-time air quality condition at different locations at home and send instructions to the air purifier; and 3) an air purifier carried by a robotic module that will drive to different locations of the apartment based on the informed decision (Master Mode) of the customer or the intelligent analysis made by Air Butler itself (Butler Mode). The three components communicate among themselves and work together to execute the optimal solution for maintaining high air quality inside the building.
