Accessible Diagnostics is developing a smartphone based, saliva glucose test system that is easy for pet owners to monitor their diabetic pets at home. In the US, there are an estimated 500,000 to 1 million diabetic pets. Many owners consider pets family members and dislike pricking their pets to draw blood for tests. Once a veterinary market is established, the Vet-Tab product can be the technology platform for the much larger human market.
