7AC has developed a high efficiency, all plastic, liquid desiccant based air conditioning solution that uses up to 80% less electricity compared to conventional HVAC technologies. Our system will realize substantial electricity savings by replacing existing rooftop HVAC systems on commercial and industrial buildings.

  • Peter Vandermeulen
    Founder and CTO

    Peter Vandermeulen started 7AC in 2009 to bring ultra-efficient, waste heat driven air-conditioning technology to market. Prior to 7AC, Peter founded BlueShift and raised $20M in venture capital for the company. Peter was VP and GM at Brooks Automation, and ran marketing and sales for their Systems Businesses Unit which he helped grow from $2.5 to $60M in 4 years. Peter has a MS in physics (Eindhoven) and MBA (Babson) and holds 13 US patents.

    Josh has a proven track record of deploying technical resources in a profound way; aligned with the needs of the organization and the customer’s definition of value. Josh worked for 5 years for Munters, a $1B HVAC manufacturer and for 15 years for Laars Heating Systems a manufacturer of large furnaces and heating solutions.

    Research Engineer

    Mark is a positive, high-energy scientist/engineer with 20+ years experience in the solar energy industry, primarily related to: silicon solar cell design issues; wafer and cell processing, equipment specification and government program management. Past companies include Schott Solar, Mobil Solar and ASE. Mark holds two patents and a PhD in Chemistry from Stanford University,and an AB (Chemistry) from Dartmouth College.

    Board Member

    Steve is an experienced international lawyer, business developer and executive leader, having a broad background in technology and finance, with experience in government, Fortune 100 companies, and entrepreneurial startups. Mr. Young was the managing director of a new business at Praxair, and President of Carrier (UTC) in India. Mr. Young holds a J.D. degree from the UConn, a MBA from RPI, and a BA from the University of California at Berkeley.

    Mitch Tyson is an experienced high tech executive and entrepreneur. He serves on a number of corporate, non-profit, and governmental advisory boards. He lectures on clean energy, entrepreneurship, management, and the triple bottom line and advises early stage companies and entrepreneurs. Mitch was the CEO of PRI and grew the company from $4M to $300M, IPO in 1994. He was the CEO of Advanced Electron Beams and raised over $50M in VC investment.

    Jed joined 7AC as board member in 2010 and as CEO in Feb 2012. Jed worked in Investment Management at Goldman Sachs and Drydock Ventures. He is a Director at The Swan Group, a diversified distributor and wholesaler of HVAC products and components. He holds an MBA from Boston University and a BA in English from Georgetown University.

    Technical Advisor

    Lucio Mesquita owns Thermosol Consulting, which implements, designs and performs feasibility analysis of commercial scale solar thermal systems for clients in the USA, Canada and Brazil. Lucio’s worked for Enerworks and Agência Energia (Brazil). He was the Canadian expert for Natural Resources Canada for Task 38, Solar Heating and Cooling. He holds a PhD from Queens University and a B.Sc., ME from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (Brazil).

  • Michael Sherber
    Technical Advisor

    Michael Sherber is a partner at The Firma Group, a design-build firm that specializes in high performance HVAC where he developed a leading edge HVAC system that uses 50% less energy than conventional HVAC systems, provides 100% outside air and does not cost more than conventional designs. Michael is ASHRAE chair for Evaporative Cooling and Air to Air heat recovery. He holds an MBA from Columbia, a MSME from Georgia Tech and a BSE from Princeton.
