3Rocks is a commercial enterprise that distributes free energy efficient cookstoves to rural householders in Zambia. It earns its revenue from generating UN approved and verified carbon credits (CERS) from reduced wood usage due to the improved efficiency of the cookstoves when compared to the current method of cooking on an open fire. It has currently installed in excess of 23,000 stoves into households in the Katete region of Zambia.

    CEO

    Alick was a founder shareholder of ICECAP, established in 2003 and one of the first entrants in the carbon market. Within ICECAP, Alick’s primary responsibilities have been head of trading and business development as well as CEO of ICECAP Carbon Portfolio, a quasi fund. Before ICECAP, Alick had over 10 years of commodity trading experience. He was born and educated in Zim and SA.

    Finance Director

    Dave has been the finance director of the ICECAP group since co -founding it. Dave qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1995 with KPMG in Cape Town, South Africa. He then worked as a consultant to a number of large international financial institutions on a project by project basis

  • Declan Tarpey
    Legal Counsel

    Declan is a director of various ICECAP group companies and has primary responsibility for all legal matters. He was, until joining ICECAP as a founder in 2003, a senior equity partner of Taylor Wessing with 20 years experience of international project finance and M&A.

  • Ian Murphy
    Operations Director

    Ian was also an ICECAP founder shareholder and his primary responsibility since 2003 has been operations. Ian is a qualified Chartered Management Accountant (1992) and is also a qualified Futures & Options representative of the UK capital markets regulator. Prior to ICECAP, Ian worked at the VP and CFO level for a number of global Investment Banks e.g. Barclays Capital, Merrill Lynch

  • Bobby Minty
    Finance Controller

    Bobby joined ICECAP in 2007 as financial controller since when his role has expanded to include responsibility for a number of operational issues. Bobby qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2005 with PWC (Jersey) and prior to joining ICECAP worked with PWC as an auditor.

  • Nick Marshall
    Carbon Compliance

    Nick has been involved with the carbon markets since 2002. He was Global Marketing Manager (Sustainability) for BSI Management Systems establishing the company as a leading GHG emissions verifier in the UK and EU ETS. He has since worked with ICECAP since 2007 (and independently as a consultant) originating CDM projects and in carbon compliance.

  • Steve Scott
    Regional Director

    Steve has recently joined 3 Rocks Limited as a Regional Director for Africa, having grown up in Zimbabwe. He comes from a financial services background and has worked in both the UK and in a number of African countries in project / operations management roles. He has a MBA from Durham.

  • Karin Sosis
    Zambian Project Manager

    During a year in Southern Africa in 2004-2005, Karin became interested in environmental issues. Consultancies with the UN and a West African development organization built her experience in development-sector project management, while work on international climate change policy at the Overseas Development Institute in London and the Terrestrial Carbon Group in New York has provided global context to her current work in Zambia.
