We guide, pilot + promote building technology innovation to empower our net positive future.

About this Program

The US Green Building Council - Los Angeles is launching the 3rd year of the Net Zero Accelerator to pilot and promote technologies that help make zero carbon, zero energy, zero water, and zero waste buildings a reality for the Greater Los Angeles region and, in furthering best practices, beyond.

Large gaps exist today between net zero building policy and current technologies in use. This program bridges those gaps by identifying viable technologies, positioning them for success, and accelerating their market entry in Los Angeles.

The Accelerator will source innovative startups and growing companies, pair them with experts to encourage scalable adoption, and promote awareness of solutions with an emphasis on placing technology pilots with building partners that support a net positive future.

Program leadership includes Colin Mangham, Director of the Net Zero Accelerator, and Ben Stapleton, Executive Director of UGSBC-LA.

Colin has guided global brands (generating over $500 million in revenues) and hundreds of entrepreneurs (securing over $75 million in funding) through birth, growth, and rebirth. With his unique expertise integrating marketing with biomimicry, he develops brands and go-to-market strategies rooted in deeply human motives and aligned with nature’s operating principles.

Ben Stapleton was part of founding team for the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) where he helped 80+ companies raise $225M+ in funding, create 1,800+ jobs, and deliver $400M+ in long-term economic value for the City of LA. He is also a Co-Founder of the DOE-affiliated LA Better Buildings Challenge, founder of JLL’s Cleantech Practice Group, and has led aUS Department of Energy (DOE) funded 3-year Building Technology Pilot Initiative.
