About this Program

Makers For Good: Fablabs designing the new reality

This Make A Ton is an initiative by Makers for Good & Wikifactory, during the days of the FABxLive to challenge the Fablab network to design for the New Reality using digital fabrication.

The challenge is to design impact driven projects that can have an impact in four main categories, Home, Work, City & Planet.

The final projects must include one minute video of a solution pitch that can be a concept or a prototype, documentation using the Makers for Good template standard in the FabLab repository at https://projects.fablabs.io/ featured by Wikifactory adding #FabXLive hashtag.

- MONDAY 27 th July
a) Kickoff: Introduction to the Make A Ton, instructions for the Wikifactory repository, showcase mentors.
b) Get-Together & Networking, Join our Slack community get to know your new friends and future team members for the challenge.
c) Team up: Whether it’s your personal idea or the one of someone else. Create or join a multifunctional team to get started.
d) Apply to the platform: When you have team you can all apply to

-TUESDAY 28th July
a) Get the work done: Our job is to provide you and your team with all the resources, materials and support you need so that you can succeed in delivering your prototype in such a short period of time.
b) Closing the project registry in Gust: Tuesday, July 28, 08:00 am (México time)

-WEDNESDAY 29th July
a) Mentor Advice with 20+ Mentors: Renowned mentors are going to share their insights, give guidance and help your team overcome any obstacle.

-THURSDAY 30th July
a) Pitch camp & sending final product videos: Pitch training for demo video, advices and tools for making your final presentation video.
b) Documentation of projects powered by Wikifactory:

-FRIDAY 31st July
a) The final presentation to the jury: You will have 3 minutes to present your final prototypes to a panel of leading industry experts - both evaluating technical feasibility and implementation potential.
b) Awards: During the Global Day event, the award will be given to the winning project.

-Tools required to participate:
We will send pro accounts to the first 100 applicants.
All session will be held on Zoom
Mentoring sessions will be scheduled in google calendar vía calendly
Projects will be documented in https://projects.fablabs.io/ Wikifactory repository
Participants will need a CAD software of their choice to design their project
