About this Program
The HealthTech|X Accelerator is a tech business accelerator exclusively for pre-Series A HealthTech startups, with this cohort focused specifically on Behavioral Health and Addiction.
A program specifically built for Behavioral Health and Addiction, leveraging the Nashville and Florida ecosystems.
HealthTech|X is the latest startup-focused business accelerator launched by Tampa Bay Wave, a nationally-recognized nonprofit, in partnership with University of South Florida Research & Innovation, The Florida High Tech Corridor, and more. Other Wave partnerships include Accenture, hospitals and health systems, healthcare-specific VC funds, JP Morgan Chase, Bank of America, Raymond James, and more.
Selected companies are not required to relocate for the duration of the program but must plan for on-site participation in both Tampa, FL and Nashville, TN — 4 mandatory in-person session weeks (2 Tampa, 2 Nashville) plus virtual weeks in between.
Over the course of the program, there will be intensive in-person blocks focused on topics pertinent for founders. Previous speakers include Financial Modeling experts, Venture Capitalists, Family Offices, the former Chief Investment Officer of Lighter Capital, the Founder of Priceline.com, Enterprise SaaS Sales and Marketing experts, M&A experts, Serial Entrepreneurs, Public Relations experts, and more.
A critical differentiator for the HealthTech|X program is the Advisory Council, made up of industry experts from large healthcare institutions, corporations, and fast-moving later-stage startups, including: USF Health, USF CAMLS, USF Taneja College of Pharmacy, TGH, BayCare, Accenture, Nicklaus Children's Hospital, Guidewell, Johnson & Johnson Healthcare systems, Downeast Digital, FIVE Labs, Ballast Point Ventures, Foley & Lardner, Neuroflow, TopMark Partners, and others.
Outside of these intensive blocks, startups will be able to leverage the Wave's 100+ strong mentor network (including leadership and former leadership from some of the country's strongest healthcare companies), the Wave team, and the community to help move companies through milestones as quickly as possible. Alumni companies have leveraged the Wave in multiple ways, including (but not limited to):
Founder relations
Investor preparation/introductions
Customer preparation/introductions
Compliance issues
HR/Legal/Accounting issues
Marketing/Messaging streamlining
CEO coaching
Tampa Bay Wave is the first accelerator in the State of Florida to be accepted into GAN, and all selected companies will also become members of the Global Accelerator Network, which includes $50,000+ worth of discounts and other perks.
To date, the Wave has supported hundreds of startups, and our portfolio has raised nearly $1B in Venture Capital and Angel investment and created 5,000+ jobs.
The HealthTech vertical at Tampa Bay Wave has been one of the strongest in the program, having raised over $100M, including Vincere Health (Boston, acquired by Optum), RxLive (Saint Petersburg, FL), Medzoomer (Tampa), Neuroflow (Philadelphia), LunaJoy (Tampa, FL), Pulse Charter Connect (Chicago), Maya AI (Tampa), Koda Health (Austin), Canopie (DC), Finni Health (Toronto), Future Cardia (Tampa), Winter Innovation (Knoxville), Friendly Health (SF), Immertec (Tampa), Coco Digital (Medellín, Colombia), and more.
