Launch Dayton is excited to host an AlphaLab Gear Hardware Cup PittStop during our LaunchPad event on January 16th.
The AlphaLab Gear Hardware Cup is a pitch competition for early-stage hardware startups. The competition includes six or more regional semifinal competitions and a national final with a $50,000 grand prize.
The 2020 Pittsburgh regional semifinal includes eight Hardware PittStops (including Dayton). The winner of the Dayton PittStop will receive a trip to Pittsburgh (including two nights accommodation and travel stipend) and a chance to pitch in the Pittsburgh regional semifinal. The winner of the Pittsburgh regional semifinal receives $3,000 ans a spot in the national finals to compete for the $50,000 grand prize.
To be eligible, companies must be early-stage hardware startups with at lease one physical product component. Physical products include, but are not limited to: manufactured products, IoT/connected devices, health/medical, consumer products, consumer electronics, food, fashion, robotics, etc.
The Pittsburgh regional Hardware Cup is tentatively scheduled for February 27th, 2020. The Dayton PittStop winner must be in Pittsburgh the morning of the 27th for a pitch-off. The top six companies from the pitch-off will pitch at the Hardware Cup that evening. All companies will table at the event and those not competing will do a one-minute lightning pitch during the event.
