About this Program

This is a six to eight-week intensive training designed to challenge you to apply innovative, community-based solutions to help solve an urgent urban health problem. If accepted, you will have access to a team of marketing, branding and tech leaders who are ready to join forces with you. Through their mentoring, training and coaching, you will move closer to qualifying to present your project at the annual American Heart Association’s EmPOWERED To Serve Summit in Baltimore, Maryland, on October 16th and potentially receive a $30,000 grant.

Focused on empowering entrepreneurs in urban communities, The 2018 Urban Health Accelerator will deliver grants, training, exposure, and mentoring for urban-based businesses that are leading transformative, scalable business models that make urban communities stronger and healthier.

Entrepreneurs aged 16 years and over will be invited to focus on accelerating their existing businesses through an aggressive 4-week fundraising, branding and marketing cohort. All level from innovation to established companies/ non profits will be accepted, however, ideal candidates have been in business for at least 2 years, have earned revenue of at least $10,000 and can demonstrate a scalable business model. This 4-week Accelerator will help candidates focus on a specific AHA/SDOH category and a fundraising strategy for their business models. They will receive individual, virtual training and coaching as they learn how to communicate their vision and prepare to present at a national Urban Health Accelerator in front of investors, partners, community leaders and other key stakeholders who can help shape their future.
