About this Program

Summary:

The Indiana Inject Tech Challenge seeks to catalyze the development of novel life science solutions through collaboration among multidisciplinary teams including scientists, engineers, and technologists. The Inject Tech Challenge is a competitive process that anticipates the collision of traditionally tangential areas of research to create new disruptive solutions designed to improve patient outcomes. The target goals include increased adherence/compliance to treatment, increased/improved access to clinicians/clinical trials, and the merging of complementary but often disconnected data sets.

Goals & Outcomes:
The intent of this challenge is to raise awareness and gain line of sight to local innovation, and identify new local entrepreneurs in life sciences and technology. Goals and Outcomes include:
• To foster grassroots relationships within the local life sciences and technology ecosystems.
• Innovations may yield opportunities to collaborate with companies to further develop and refine solutions.
• Create conversations where companies share their challenges inspiring local entrepreneurs to create new solutions that lead to collaborations and new companies.
• Encourage the dialogue to be mutually beneficial and lead to bidirectional sharing of ideas, experiences, and learning.

Challenge Statement 1:
• Create a digital health and mobile medical solutions for measuring/monitoring/treating disease progression in chronic pain conditions, prediabetes/diabetes, and/or diabetic complications through novel endpoints.
Challenge Statement 2:
• Identify a portable and fungible (across electronic health record data systems) solution to engage healthcare providers, enabling and incentivizing referrals (using workflow management and compensation features) into clinical research. Projects aligned to diabetes, pain, and/or autoimmune diseases will be prioritized.
Challenge Statement 3:
• Design an innovative, total support system/model to enable clinical trial participation of diverse populations.
Challenge Statement 4:
• Identify a solution to transform and merge “omics” data and clinical data through advanced analytics and machine-learning to enable a new level of data interoperability, accessibility, and security.

Application Process:
Applicants must have a nexus to the state of Indiana. The top entries will be on display at the Indiana Life Sciences Summit on October 9th and 10th and also will present on the campus of Eli Lilly and other participating companies. The winners will receive $16,000 in cash prizes. The semifinalists will receive coaching and feedback during a practice run in preparation for the Summit presentation.
