About this Program

Keiretsu Forum NW is a highly active angel investor network in the Pacific NW. In 2014, we invested $32.3 million among 37 startup companies.

Our Investment Focus

Companies that apply to Keiretsu Forum NW are typically in the tail end of their Seed round, or in their A or B rounds, and are raising between $500k and $3mm.

As part of the broader Keiretsu Forum network, Keiretsu Forum NW investors typically invest in a wide range of companies from all industries. Investors focus on companies that are solving a significant customer problem in a large, growing total addressable market. In most cases, these companies need to have customer traction (actual sales and revenue) and need money to go to market at scale. Companies need an unfair advantage in the market, which functions as a barrier to entry from the competition. Experienced teams who invest in their startup before coming to Keiretsu are favored. Companies that pay founders salaries after the break-even point are preferred. Preferred stock offerings or convertible notes (with discounts and caps) are preferred by investors. Finally, investors prefer companies with a return to investors of over 10x in 3-5 years; and the exit is typically an IPO or an acquisition.

If accepted into the Keiretsu Forum NW process, entrepreneurs enjoy:

a) Exposure to Keiretsu Forum members - accredited private equity investors, VCs and resource partners

b) Access to a wealth of feedback and insight to help the entrepreneur refine his/her presentation and business plan

c) An introduction into the markets, relationships, and executive talent found in the network

d) Assuming the company makes it through the process, there is an opportunity to raise money from the Keiretsu Forum network, composed of 1400 accredited investor members throughout 29 chapters on three continents.

Within the Keiretsu network, members understand that searching for funding can be a daunting process to even the most experienced entrepreneur. To get a better understanding of the process, we encourage companies interested in presenting to attend a meeting of the Forum in a local chapter prior to applying.
