Our Investment Focus
VentureCapital.org, powered by the Wayne Brown Institute, is the oldest and one of the most successful venture accelerators in the United States. After 33 years Alumni companies have posted impressive results, over $10billion in financial transactions, and a 70% success rate at obtaining funding.
Applicants are typically start up to A round technology companies that can grow into venture capital funded companies. We look at Life Sciences, Cleantech, IT, just about anything technology related. Occasionally we look at other high growth companies. We do not do real estate speculation, or oil, gas or mining exploration. Applicants will be considered for the following VentureCapital.org programs unless you specify an individual program (detailed information can be found at venturecapital.org):
Investors Choice: The Investors Choice® Venture Capital Conference deliver the quality deal flow that investors are looking for, as well as, 6-8 weeks of venture-based mentoring and advice from venture professionals for entrepreneurs. Since 2009, VentureCapital.org Alumni companies have raised over $1billion dollars in angel and venture capital. In fact, the 2016 cohort has already raised over $33 million and is rapidly approached the 70% funding rate.
We are no longer accepting applications for the 33nd annual Investor’s Choice® Venture Capital Conference. Please visit https://venturecapital.org/vc-events/investors-choice/ to learn more about the conference or to register to attend.
The Deal Forum: The Deal Forum provides a safe environment for entrepreneurs to test their value propositions and business models with investors. An Entrepreneur starts with 3-6 weeks of venture-based mentoring and advice from venture professionals. The program concludes with a presentation to 4-6 angel investors for feedback, not to pass judgement.
The Deal Forum is a valuable resource for start-up/early-stage companies to accelerate their growth. Selected companies could be the next success, and with the help of VentureCapital.org a company’s odds of raising money are greatly enhanced. Applicants are typically startup to seed to early A round and are technology companies. Since VC.org holds many Deal Forums in Utah and Idaho, applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
WBI Angels: The WBI Angels is made of angel investors from around the country that will invest in Utah and beyond, as well as, many non-traditional local angels. It is also a window into VentureCapital.org programing. It is a great way to get introductions to local angel groups, such as the Park City and SLC Angels, the Boise Angel Alliance and the Sun Valley Band of Angels. A number of these angels are Board members of the Wayne Brown Institute (VentureCapital.org) and strongly consider investment in Alumni companies (those having participated in a previous Deal Forum® or Investor’s Choice® Conference)
EDRLF: The Salt Lake County Economic Development Revolving Loan Fund is a $7million venture debt fund designed to help early-stage technology, or advanced manufacturing companies grow their business. While currently restricted to parts of Salt Lake County, Utah, typical loan size is between $250K and $400K at competitive rates with no warrants. The fund has plenty of dry powder and if you want to know more go to www.venturecapital.org/edrlf. Please indicate if you are applying for EDRLF.
