Visorcat technology has applications in the wider health and safety sector - anywhere a full-face visor is required while working in a dirty or dusty environment. Examples are on North Sea oil rigs, where conditions demand the workers wear full-face breathing apparatus, in firefighting, in the MoD, and in construction.
The competitive advantage is clear: Visorcat is the only product that can safely clean and wipe a visor while riding or working. A patent covering the fundamental Visorcat invention has been granted in the US and the EU.
Since formation of the company, the product has been designed and manufactured in preproduction quantities. The 900 preproduction units, manufactured with soft tooling at preproduction cost, have been sold and market acceptance has been well tested, as can be seen in the testimonials received (see business plan for testimonials). Full production tooling is now required for volume manufacture at far lower costs. A sales and marketing programme has been set up to achieve volume sales, through a mix of awareness creation using sophisticated internet marketing techniques, supported by internet sales and traditional distribution into retail outlets, initially in the UK and Northern Europe and in North America. Investment is required to fund production tooling, the cash outlay for production units and the sales and marketing campaign to establish volume sales. The directors plan to raise £265k for this. It is the intention to go from this investment to a trade sale within 5 years with no intermediate investment.
