Company Summary

Visual Computing Lab (VCL) is a research unit of CNR (italian National Research Council), active on many 3D computer graphics themes(3D scanning, interactive rendering, 3D for mobile applications). VCL develops and maintains MeshLab, a well-known open source mesh processing system, now moving also on the mobile platform. VCL is currently setting up a spin-off that will take care of the development and exploitation of its proprietary technologies.

    Roberto Scopigno

    Roberto won a permanent researcher position at CNR-CNUCE in 1986, become Senior Researcher in 1997 and finally Research Dierctor in 2001 at ISTI-CNR.
    Since 1990 he had joint appointments at the Department of Computer Engineering and at the Department of Computer Science of the University of Pisa, where he taught Computer Graphics courses.
    He has been engaged in several research projects in Computer Graphics funded by EU and national agencies.

    Paolo Cignoni

    Paolo Cignoni is a Senior Research Scientist with CNR-ISTI.
    He received a Ph.D. Degree in Computer Science at the University of Pisa in 1998.
    He has been awarded ”Best Young Researcher” by the EG association in 2004.
    His research interests cover Computer Graphics fields
    ranging from visualization and processing of huge 3D datasets, to 3D scanning in the cultural heritage field and to Scientific Visualization.

    Guido Ranzuglia

    Guido Ranzuglia is a Researcher at CNR-ISTI.
    He received an advanced degree in Computer Science (Laurea) from the University of Pisa.
    He has been involved with several projects leaded by CNR-ISTI and, since 2010, he is the main core developer of MeshLab, an open source mesh processing tool and the release manager of MeshLab for iOS.
