Company Summary

Cerahelix uses DNA to make ceramic nanofilters that purify industrial solutions at significant energy and cost savings- in some instances reducing energy consumption by greater than 90%! Our PicoHelix filters provide sustainable solutions for a wide range of industries. For example, current customers have used them to treat highly contaminated wastewater for reuse as well as to extract molecules from solvents for pharmaceutical applications.


  • Dr. MacKay is founder and CEO of CeraHelix. She has 20 years’ experience in materials research, and worked in corporate R&D at 3M Corporation where her responsibilities included analysis of both existing and developing products, including a $300 million product line in the electronic materials division. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill and was a Mass High Tech “Woman to Watch” in 2011.

  • Dr. Bishop is co-founder of CeraHelix and the principal inventor of the DNA ceramic membrane technology. Karl has 20 years’ experience in DNA characterization and manipulation.He has a Ph.D. in Biophysics from Syracuse University, after which he did post-doctoral work at the University of California - San Francisco. He spent two years in product development at Tm Technologies - a venture backed DNA diagnostics biotech firm in Boston.

    VP of Business Strategy

    Jutta worked at Deutsche Bank as a financial analyst where she structured capital market transactions and developed products to meet early stage financial needs (Private Equity, Venture Capital, Mergers & Acquisitions) with a focus on start-up Biotech and Information Technology companies.
    She is bilingual and has an extensive background developing pro-forma financial statements, and developing financial models for start-up operations.

    VP of Applications Engineering

    30 years experience in process filtration industry. Co-founded and ran Integrated Process Technologies, Inc. in 2000- grew to $15MM in sales revenue in 7 years, sold to Nikkoso/LEWA in 2013. Expertise in process engineering, sales, lean manufacturing, strategic alliances, and business development. BS in Chemical Engineering from University of Maine.

    Chinh Pham is Chair of Greenberg Traurig's Nanotechnology Practice. He is a registered patent attorney with experience in the strategic creation, implementation and protection of intellectual property rights for high technology and life science clients.
    Jeff advises companies through formation, angel/venture capital financings, securities offerings, strategic partnerships, and mergers and acquisitions, and chairs the Innovative Enterprise Program for select emerging companies with high growth potential.

    Pete's experience ranges from mergers and acquisitions and tax planning for large corporations to strategic and comprehensive tax planning and compliance services to businesses worldwide. He has a dual Law degree and MBA from Boston College.
