Venture Hall’s mission is to help promising new startups reach massive scale.

About this Program

* Killer curriculum developed in partnership with Village Capital
* Close corporate partnerships get you out of the bubble and into reality
* World-class mentors work side-by-side to challenge and advocate for you
* Peer-ranking process crushes the old-boy-network funding model
* Zero equity taken: We're a nonprofit, not a fund. Your goals are our goals.

This isn't a three-months-to-demo-day-and-done manufactured pressure cooker. This is reality. You're on a journey and we're here to support you. Come to Portland, Maine and see how startup life should be.

Our corporate partners represent an invaluable resource to startups looking to hone their innovations into market-ready solutions. Unum Group is a leading provider of financial protection benefits in the United States and the United Kingdom. Unum’s portfolio includes disability, life, accident, critical illness, dental and vision coverage, which help protect millions of working people and their families. The company reported revenues of $10.7 billion in 2015.

MaineHealth is a not-for-profit family of leading high-quality providers and other health care organizations working together so their communities are the healthiest in America. MaineHealth is ranked among the nation's top 100 integrated healthcare delivery networks. With nearly 17,000 employees, MaineHealth serves hundreds of thousands of patients per year.

For selected teams, there is little to no cost to participate (Venture Hall covers many travel and living expenses), and two teams in the cohort will win up to $25,000 of zero-equity investment, awarded by peer-review (a ground-breaking and powerful method developed by Village Capital). All teams who successfully complete the program will have the opportunity to present to and meet with investors at our demo day on September, 8th, 2017.

Our summer 2017 cohort will be built around the following problem statement. If your company contributes to solutions that address any of the challenges described (whether you consider yours a healthcare company or not), we invite you to apply.

The Problem Statement:

Healthcare is the largest private sector industry in the United States, impacting nearly every individual in some material way. Delivering effective care to patients requires the highest level of training, skill, dedication, teamwork and technology. Unfortunately, the job of providing healthcare creates significant burdens for those on the front lines.

Too often, members of the care team are limited by time, resource and information constraints, which make an already challenging job even harder to do. As a result, healthcare workers have some of the lowest job satisfaction ratings and highest rates of absenteeism and burnout of any industry, which translates directly into lower quality of care, and lower quality scores for healthcare providers.

We are looking for early stage companies that can provide solutions to improve how the healthcare industry supports the care team. We will consider all solutions that show strong potential to result in increased healthcare worker well-being, efficacy, engagement, and resilience.

These are some big challenges. If you're working on solutions in this space, or similar, we want to know about it.
